Satisfactory Training Progress

Satisfactory Training Progress expectations reflect the expectations found in the workplace. Training progress is measured by attendance and timeliness, assignment completion and improvement, participation, and perspective. Trainees are encouraged to communicate with their instructor regarding challenges or difficulties in these areas. The instructors and staff of the Total Skills Training Center are genuinely interested in the success of each trainee and endeavor to provide each trainee with the instruction, feedback, understanding, and support needed for them to succeed in preparing for employment, managing changes in employment, and realizing their life aspirations.

Trainees demonstrating a lack of satisfactory progress at any time during a course will be asked to meet with their instructor, and the program director as needed, to determine a course of corrective action. If the trainee withdraws or is terminated, they will not be readmitted without the approval of the primary instructor and program director.

Performance Evaluation System

The performance evaluation scale and progress report is shown above.

Eligible individuals seeking training can take advantage of this approach to employment readiness and career development which incorporates efficacy, skill building, and goal attainment efforts based on one’s own aspirations for their future, personal and career awareness, partnerships, and strategic planning.

The Training Center curriculum is based on proven, evidenced-based and measurable constructs, strategies, methods, and outcomes. Research results show that the dual incorporation of employment readiness and employment preparation in work and life skills curricula improves the lives of individuals in various life and socioeconomic circumstances. Thus, the expected outcomes for the participants include preparation for the workplace through the acquisition of personal career awareness and multiple work and life skills concepts and abilities.

The Talent and Skills Training Center expects that 100 percent of the participants who complete the program satisfactorily will experience greater employment and career self-efficacy, personal self-worth, and improvement in the skills necessary to obtain and maintain permanent employment.

Measurement and Evaluation Activities.

Programming and participant measurement and evaluation activities are essential components of the Talent and Skills Training Center program. The data and information generated by the participants and instructors are vital to the program evaluation process. The Training Center’s administration and staff evaluate the training effectiveness and outcomes with the following instruments, procedures, and review:

1) Each participant receives an Interest form, Enrollment Form, Handbook/Catalog, and an Attendance and Training Progress Form designed to plan, support, monitor, and report their achievement in the program.

2) Participants receive knowledge and skills assessments. The results are recorded and used to measure individual and collective participant growth.

3) Course assignments, measurement tools and checklists are in place to follow participant accomplishments and activities along the path to graduation.

4) Participant surveys are used to measure participants’ perspective of successes or additional supportive needs.

5) Stakeholder surveys are used for measuring stakeholder’s perspectives of successes or additional supportive needs.

6) The administration and designated staff track the number of participants including demographic information, career interests, training session completion rates, and post-training program graduation work and life opportunities.

7) A board appointed internal and external evaluation committee reviews the program’s operations and systems, functions and impact, administrative and staff performances, and participant outcomes.
